My travels so far…
World travel by country (18 countries, 8% of the world)

By U.S. state (26 states, 50%)

By Canadian province (3 provinces, 23%)

By European country (2 countries, 3%)

Amazing to see my 32 years sorted and visualized in this way. Looks like I should pack my bags for Europe, South America, Western Canada, or the U.S. north central states. Now, go travel! Or, at least go create your own personalized map at world66.com.

SXSW interactive festival, March 12-16, 2004, Austin, TX.
Not only was it great to have my site, ADD, as a finalist in the SXSW Interactive Awards, I thoroughly enjoyed the conference, in particular, the talks by Howard Rheingold, Brenda Laurel and Sandy Stone, the MoveOn guys (Zack Exley and Eli Pariser), and Jeffrey Veen. Would have liked to take more photos in the sessions but you had to have an official press pass (see Joi Ito’s post). To see some of the keynotes, take a look at SXSW’s video clips. Mike Slone has a good list to notes on his blog link round up.

Great sign spotted on the Austin Motel our last night at SXSW.

In Hack This (Please), Andy Kessler writes about the benefits of true hacks (“clever solutions to an interesting problem) and the “new breed of users out there, computer-literate consumers who don’t think twice about altering the look, feel and functionality of a product.”
Mass customization is the next big thing. It sounds like an oxymoron, but it really isn’t. Just open up your wares and your customers will not just show you what they want, but do it for you, too.

“Compostela is an exhibition which has been organized around ten individual projects by artists who share their use of photography and video, as well as a remarkable interest for the reflection on everyday issues and references to natural and human landscape, urban architectures, monuments or peripheral neighborhoods, but also to aspects, which are more difficult to symbolize, like the physiognomy – spiritual, sentimental and mood-related- of a city or even the human landscape. More than a collective exhibition on the city, Compostela is a series of entwined projects, which try to compete with and to show the present of the town.
