Its only because women are all about fashion and lifestyle. This article is for women (men won’t want it pointed out the women are AGAIN beating them at something… bad for the all important ego), clearly it belongs in the fashion and lifestyle area, after all what women will be reading the technology section? They might find it hard to understand… (being really sarcastic here… just call me a cynical women in a man’s techy world) Reminds me of something else to gripe about: why, if i picked up a mag on home and garden, do i want to see ads for cosmetics and perfume?

What I really think: totally un-surprised, I am in my late 20’s and all but one of my friends who write blogs are women… it’s just how we like to think and work, it fits into our lives quite naturally.

It also makes me laugh that when we research the online community concept for large corporations that are looking at adding an online community to their websites, the target market to research and interview are young men. No mention of young successful women, however we continue to come out of blue kicking ass, “surprising” the people at the top.

I sometimes think its a big conspiracy to make sure we will never be paid as much as the “boys”. When our accomplishments are always seen as “lifestyle” driven but when something similar is accomplished by a man its art, business or technology (just for the sake of making huge generalisations). As you can probably tell I have had too much coffee this morning.. Great article tho.

Also agree re: Style section vs. Technology section.

Thanks for bringing this out!

Naturally women are very interested to express themselves. Though they use technology to express but do they give more concentration on technology study?

Thanks for an important topic.

Great article! I’m trying to start a site for young woman http://www.sassychik.com. If you get a chance, or have any ideas/tips I would love the feedback.

It annoys me so much also that women in tech aren’t put in the ‘technology’ section, which is seen as a man’s domain.

I have 3 daughters and it’s interesting to see the sites they frequent. The stats don’t surprise me at all.
