She&#8217;s been a Principal Designer and Head of Experience Design at <a href=\"http:\/\/adobe.com\">Adobe<\/a> since 2013, when Adobe acquired <a href=\"http:\/\/ideacodes.com\">Ideacodes,<\/a> the company she co-founded with husband, Max Kiesler.<\/p>\r\n<p>From 2004-2013, Ideacodes specialized in the design and user experience of web applications, smart devices, digital products and networked communities, with clients as diverse as <a href=\"http:\/\/ideo.com\">IDEO<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/mtv.com\">MTV<\/a>, gdgt, GigaOM, <a href=\"http:\/\/stanford.edu\">Stanford University<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/mit.edu\">Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/a>, Adaptive Path, and dozens of innovative San Francisco startups.<\/p>\r\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\r\n<p>Emily writes and posts about design and user experience, technology, culture and next generation web here at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emilychang.com\">EmilyChang.com<\/a>, a site that&#8217;s part blog, part life log &#8211; going back to 1999. This site includes an archived version of her popular blog, eHub, a resource of web and mobile apps and services.<\/p>\r\n<p>In 2009, Emily was nominated for the prestigious <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationaldesignawards.org\/\">Copper-Hewitt National Design Awards<\/a> for excellence in Interaction Design. Her digital work and activity in the web community gained her recognition as one of Silicon Valley&#8217;s Top 50 Influential Digerati in 2007. Her internet work has garnered dozens of design and interactive awards, including a SXSW finalist award for community weblog, two prestigious Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) grand gold awards in interactive media, IBM Best Practices Partner for a portal to serve university students, and Web Marketing Association&#8217;s Best University website.\u00a0She&#8217;s been an invited judge for the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adaaentry.com\/judges.php\">Adobe Design Achievement Awards<\/a>, an\u00a0advisory member of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.web2expo.com\/\">O&#8217;Reilly Web 2.0 Expo<\/a> design and user experience committee, an invited panelist at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sxsw.com\/interactive\/\">SXSW Interactive<\/a> conference, and an early member of the Web 2.0 Workgroup in SF.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:post-content -->\r\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph -->Prior to co-founding <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ideacodes.com\">Ideacodes<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxkiesler.com\">Max Kiesler<\/a>, Emily was a partner and creative director in a marketing communications firm, the first web director of the Cornell Entrepreneur Network at Cornell University, an independent design consultant, and the first interface designer for the University at Buffalo web team, a startup electronic media and marketing unit.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph -->She has an M.F.A. in sculpture and media from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a B.A. in literature from the College of William and Mary. As an artist, she&#8217;s shown digital videos at numerous online venues and exhibited sculpture and installations in galleries in New York. Having traveled and lived extensively around the world (North America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Europe), Emily currently lives and works in the SOMA district in downtown San Francisco.
